VIVA.co.id is an online news portal managed by PT. Viva Media Baru, a subsidiary of PT Visi Media Asia Tbk, which is listed as VIVA on the stock market. VIVA Group is also the parent company of television media outlets ANTV and tvOne.

Launched on December 17, 2008, in Jakarta, the portal was previously named VIVAnews.com. Carrying the tagline “indepth and trusted,” the VIVA.co.id news and information portal immediately gained a place in readers’ hearts by presenting in-depth articles and featuring content with photos and infographics. At that time, it was not yet a requirement for most online media to display photos in every news report.

Despite being newly established, in mid-2009, VIVAnews.com immediately garnered attention and surged past several news portals that had existed longer. It even reached the position of the number one news portal, according to the measurement and ranking institution Effective Measures, and was ranked second by Alexa.com.

Then, in 2012, VIVAnews.com changed its name to VIVA.co.id. This domain and name change aimed for VIVA.co.id to be more than just a news portal; it also sought to present user-generated content (UGC) based on entertainment, lifestyle, and content appealing to women, as well as a marketplace. At that time, several brands were introduced simultaneously, all still under one domain: VIVAnews, VIVAlife, VIVAbola, VIVAforum, VIVAlog, and VIVAsocio.

In 2018, VIVA.co.id changed its logo and tagline to #1NEWSTAINMENT. This change was for a more dynamic logo and a tagline more focused on news and entertainment, as part of a strategy to capture the attention of millennials and Generation Z.

Changes continued, where in 2019, in addition to the VIVA.co.id portal, 6 new media outlets were also launched, all still under the auspices of PT VIVA Media Baru (VMB). The five (sic – should be six) of them are the portals jagodangdut.com, 100kpj.com, intipseleb.com, vlix.id, VIVAnews.com, and sahijab.com.

After progressing along with reader development, VIVAnews.com in July 2020 reintegrated with VIVA.co.id. This aimed to allow readers to enjoy the diversity of news on the VIVA.co.id page.

Readers access VIVA.co.id via web browsers, mobile web browsers, and apps on Google Play (Android) and the App Store (iOS). In addition to serving readers with text, photo, infographic, and video content, VIVA.co.id also provides live streaming from tvOne and ANTV. Similarly, content services, especially video, can be accessed through accounts on Dailymotion, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
